LMU Introduces Doctor of Business Administration Program

LOS ANGELES - Loyola Marymount University College of Business Administration is adding a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program in the fall. This part-time, hybrid program is designed for accomplished professionals eager to deepen their expertise and address complex business challenges through rigorous research and practical application.

At a time when the business world demands innovative problem solvers and globally responsible leaders, LMU's DBA program offers an integrative and transformative experience that equips students with the skills to drive strategic change and real-world impact through applied research.

"The DBA furthers LMU's status as a leading publicly engaged research institution," said Executive Vice President and Provost Thomas Poon. "This program will transform accomplished industry experts into applied researchers who can use evidence-based decision-making to solve some of the most complex challenges facing the business world today." LMU has an R2 Carnegie Classification for research.

As industries and organizations face unprecedented challenges, the demand for leaders who can navigate complex issues with strategic, evidence-based solutions has never been higher.

"The DBA is an important new direction for the college," said LMU CBA Dean Dayle Smith. "We look forward to equipping doctoral candidates with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to truly transform their organizations and/or the communities in which they live, applying research to address some of the most significant business challenges of our time."

With a curriculum designed to be completed in three years, candidates will embark on a journey of growth, leadership, and impact, culminating in a significant research project that addresses real-world business challenges.

According to Harvard Business Review, DBA holders represent only 2% of all individuals with advanced degrees in business. DBA graduates are highly valued and well-positioned for top executive roles, strategic consultancies, and impactful academic or research careers. Their unique qualifications enable them to drive significant organizational transformations, lead sustainable growth initiatives, and initiate market disruptions.

Further, the scarcity of such highly trained professionals amplifies their potential to venture into entrepreneurship, applying their sophisticated understanding of business dynamics to develop innovative models and practices that leave a lasting mark on the global economy.
