Monthly Subnational Construction Spending: Private Manufacturing

FEB. 1, 2023 - The U.S. Census Bureau today announced the launch of the Monthly Subnational Construction Spending: Private Manufacturing experimental data product. This new data product features construction spending estimates at the Census Bureau division level for private manufacturing.

These estimates measure the construction work done on new manufacturing structures or improvements that are made to existing structures. They include the cost of labor and materials, architectural and engineering work, overhead, interest and taxes paid during construction, and contractor's profits.

The experimental data product is based on an existing construction spending survey sample of private construction projects and uses the same methodology to calculate the estimates.

It also provides a historical data series for each Census Bureau division from January 2017 to December 2022.

The first release of the data is Feb. 1, 2023. Data will be released monthly thereafter, coinciding with the release of the Value of Construction Put in Place economic indicator. For more information, visit Monthly Subnational Construction Spending: Private Manufacturing.
