LA Marathon bus detours this Sunday; some tips to help you get around!

The annual LA Marathon is being held this weekend with the route beginning at Dodger Stadium and ending in Century City.

As usual, many of our bus lines will be partially detoured because of the race. The detours begin at 4 a.m. Sunday with all of the detours ending by 5 p.m. Sunday - and some earlier.

These Metro Bus Lines will have detours on Sunday: 2, 4, 10/48, 14, 16,18, 20, 28, 30, 33, 40, 45, 53, 55, 60, 62, 70, 76, 78, 81, 90, 92, 94, 96, 105, 106, 180, 182, 204, 206, 207, 210, 212, 217, 218, 222, 224 (Owl), 233 (Owl), 460, 602, 603, 617, 720, 754, 761 and Line 910/950.

We will be posting signage at all bus stops letting you know the nearest stop to catch your bus. All detour routes are below in detail.

Here are a few tips to help you get around on Sunday:

•Our Metro Rail A, B, D & E Lines may be good alternatives to riding the bus! Our rail service is not impacted by the marathon. Use Google/Apple Maps or metro.netto plan your trip.

•Allow extra time if riding one of the bus lines that will be detoured on Sunday and plan on encountering extra car traffic on roads nearest to the marathon course.

•We know there's a lot happening around town this weekend. For those headed to the Abilities Expo at the L.A. Convention Center, we suggest taking the A or E Line to Pico Station to avoid bus detours. If you're headed to the Angel City game at BMO Stadium on Sunday afternoon, please take the E Line to the Expo Park/USC Station to avoid any bus detours.

•Metro Bus Lines 2 (which runs on Sunset Boulevard) and 4 (which runs on Santa Monica Boulevard) are the most heavily impacted by the race detours and best avoided if you don't want to deal with detours.

•On the Westside, Line 2 will use Wilshire between Crescent and La Cienega Boulevard. Closer to downtown L.A., Line 2 will use Santa Monica Boulevard between Virgil and La Cienega. For the full detours, please see below.

•On the Westside, Line 4 will detour from Santa Monica Blvd. to Olympic Blvd. between Barrington and La Cienega. Closer to downtown LA, Line 4 will use Beverly Blvd. between Virgil and Beaudry. For the full detours, please see below.

•To avoid the closure of Hollywood Boulevard for the race that will impact Lines 180 and 217, please consider taking the B Line between the following stations: Hollywood/Western, Hollywood/Vine and Hollywood/Highland.

•If riding our bus lines that run in a north-south direction, try to start or end trips south of Santa Monica Boulevard to avoid detours.

•Many of the detoured bus lines will return to their regular routes once the race completely passes through that part of town. With the race beginning in DTLA that means detours will lift first in DTLA - which typically begins to happen about 11 a.m. on race day.

•Our detoured lines will try to make stops at all intersections where it is safe to do s while on a detour route.

•The LA Marathon is running a free shuttle bus from Union Station to race start line at Dodger Stadium at 5 a.m., 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. The marathon recommends RSVPing a spot on those buses at: https://www.mccourtfoundation.org/event/los-angeles-marathon/parking-transportation/

•After the race: for those who want to ride transit to get home or back to your car, the nearest Metro Rail station to Century City is the E Line's Sepulveda/Expo Station. From Century City, use the bus stop at Sepulveda and Olympic boulevards and board either Metro Line 233/761 or Culver City Line 6 southbound to ride to Sepulveda/Expo Station.
