Community College of Philadelphia Recognizes First-generation Graduates with Dedicated Ceremony

Celebrating Students who are the First in Their Family to Earn a Degree

PHILADELPHIA -Community College of Philadelphia is honoring the trailblazing students who are the first in their family or household to graduate college with an event today, Tuesday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Library and Learning Commons, 1700 Spring Garden Street.

"The College's first-gen student initiative works to support and guide students in adjusting to the college environment, help them be a successful student, and complete their education. We want to provide the assistance and advice that students may not be able to receive from family or friends. Earning a degree or certificate is important for their future and the future of their families. This is an opportunity for first-gen students to gather, with their families, so we can celebrate their accomplishments," said Dr. Donald Guy Generals, president of Community College of Philadelphia.
