SENIOR MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTS YAB PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA AT THE STATE FUNERAL FOR LATE H.E. SHINZO ABE IN TOKYO, JAPAN 27 SEPTEMBER 2022

SENIOR MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTS

YAB PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA AT THE STATE FUNERAL

FOR LATE H.E. SHINZO ABE IN TOKYO, JAPAN

27 SEPTEMBER 2022

Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Dato' Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, will represent YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia at the State Funeral Ceremony for the late H.E. Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan on 27 September 2022 at Nippon Budokan, Tokyo.

YB Senior Minister will be accompanied by officials of the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo during theceremony.The ceremony includes a greeting session with H.E. Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan in the presence of H.E. Hirokazu Matsuno, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan and H.E. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan followed by a brief occasion with Mrs. Akie Abe, spouse of H.E. Abe to extend condolences at Akasaka Palace, Tokyo.

During his tenure as the Prime Minister of Japan, H.E. Abe visited Malaysia three (3) times and played an instrumental role in enhancing bilateral relations including strengthening further the Look East Policy (LEP). His last visit to Malaysia as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Japan was to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the LEP during which H.E. Abe had a meeting with YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia and audience on His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah in March 2022.

On 13 July 2022, YAB Prime Minister and YB Minister of Foreign Affairs signed the book of condolences at the Embassy of Japan in Kuala Lumpur.
