Relief supplies from Shanghai Charity Foundation to Zhuozhou

The Shanghai Charity Foundation's first batch of rescue materials, worth 2.96 million yuan (US$407,713), was transported on Saturday from Shanghai to the flood-stricken area of Zhuozhou in Hebei Province.

The materials include 84 disinfectants, disinfectant wipes, tools for cleaning up sludge, functional drinks and instant food, which will provide support for the resumption of classes for local high school seniors, community assistance and rescue work in Zhuozhou.

The Shanghai branch of China Postal Group Corporation undertook the transportation task free of charge.

The batch of rescue materials is expected to arrive in Zhuozhou 48 hours later and will be delivered to the Zique Rescue Team for use in the Diaowo and Matou towns.

In addition to aid materials, as of 12pm on August 11, the Shanghai Charity Foundation has received a cumulative total of 7.07 million yuan in donations from online and offline sources and has disbursed 1.19 million yuan in aid funds.

The Shanghai Charity Foundation will ensure that the funds are used timely and effectively based on the progress of the relief efforts, and will disclose the progress of the relief project in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
