Center for Teaching & Learning Announces 2024-25 Lilly Fellows for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) has announced the selection of the 2024-25 Lilly Fellows for Teaching Excellence.<_o3a_p>

The eight fellows are:<_o3a_p>

  • Michelle Facette, biology<_o3a_p>
  • Shannon Hogue, classics<_o3a_p>
  • Anne Kerth, Afro-American studies<_o3a_p>
  • Jennifer Mack, speech, language, and hearing sciences <_o3a_p>
  • Siobhan Meï, information and computer sciences <_o3a_p>
  • Anuj Pradhan, mechanical and industrial engineering<_o3a_p>
  • Nick Tooker, civil and environmental engineering<_o3a_p>
  • James Walsh, chemistry<_o3a_p>

Established in 1986, the Lilly Fellowship for Teaching Excellence supports the university's strategic interest in developing academic leaders in the area of teaching. The Lilly program has trained over 275 faculty members. Past Lilly Fellows include 31 Distinguished Teaching Award (DTA) winners, 37 College Outstanding Teaching Award (COTA) winners, one Manning Award winner, over 46 department chairs, 21 associate deans and two deans.<_o3a_p>

During their fellowship year, participants attend regular seminars on pedagogy, develop a new course or substantially redesign an existing one, complete a teaching portfolio that includes teaching reflections and activities adapted to the course, and work collaboratively to anticipate many of the challenges and rewards of faculty life at UMass Amherst.
