Southern end of Blowering dam to reopen for Easter

04 Apr 2023 - Rod Campbell

Forestry Corporation of NSW will reopen Yellowin Access Road on Wednesday 5th April 2023, which will enable the public to access the southern end of Blowering dam via Batlow in time for Easter.

Over the past four months, Forestry Corporation has been undertaking extensive works to repair four separate slips along the road, said Stewardship and Fire Manager, Charlie Taylor.

"We are very pleased to be in a position to reopen Yellowin Access Road and the foreshore roads, between Batlow, Blowering Dam and Talbingo for public access," Mr Taylor said.

"While Yellowin Access Road was reopened last year, subsequent deterioration of road sections eventuating from the heavy rainfall events has meant a significant portion of the road was temporarily closed again in January this year.

Final repairs have been completed this week and the area will be reopened from Wednesday 5 April, in time for Easter."

Areas of fire damaged pine plantation and minor fire trails in the area remain impassable to vehicles and the public should keep to main roads while enjoying the facilities in the area.

"We have established a 40km/hr speed limit for Yellowin Access Road; please adhere to this limit for your safety and that of others on the road," Mr Taylor said.

Please follow all signs and directions from Forestry Corporation staff.

Forest visitors are still strongly encouraged to check ahead at www.forestrycorporation.com.au for any closures and forest notices.
