Fresno Pacific University Adds STUNT as an NCAA Emerging Sport

Fresno Pacific University is excited to announce the addition of STUNT as its newest intercollegiate sport, starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. STUNT, one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, focuses on the technical and athletic components of cheer, including partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, group jumps and tumbling.

STUNT will be the university's 17th intercollegiate sport and ninth women's program.

Following its recognition as an emerging sport by the NCAA across all divisions in January 2024, STUNT continues to expand, with NCAA Division II currently hosting 14 teams and 390 athletes. NCAA Emerging Sports are intercollegiate sports that are recognized by the NCAA in the United States, but do not have sanctioned NCAA Championships.

Fresno Pacific will commence its STUNT program by hiring a part-time coach this coming academic year, transitioning to a full-time role by Fall of 2025 to support the team's competitive development.

FPU Director of Athletics Kyle Ferguson shared his enthusiasm about the new program: "We are excited to introduce STUNT at FPU. STUNT not only aligns with our commitment to providing athletic opportunities but also strengthens our mission to foster spiritual and academic growth, while enhancing community among our students."

This initiative reflects Fresno Pacific University's commitment to offering a broad, inclusive athletics program that supports the physical, academic, and spiritual development of its students.
