MDC Wolfson Campus Presents The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee Musical April 14-15
Miami, March 27, 2023 - Miami Dade College's(MDC) Wolfson CampusOpera/Musical Theatre Ensemblewill perform The 25thAnnual Putnam County Spelling Bee musical at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 14 & 15. Winner of a Tony Award and Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, the musical tells the tale of an eclectic group of mid-pubescents vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. This production is performed by MDC students and directed by Prof. Amy Davis.
Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this musical is one unforgettable experience. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping to never hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter, one speller leaves a champion.
A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a delightful den of comedic genius.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for MDC faculty, staff and students.
