NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred at the intersection of St. Claude Avenue and Gordon Street and left one person dead.

At 1:04 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call for service for a man down at the location. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the back. EMS declared the victim deceased on scene.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the victims and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
