2022 Transportation Bond Election

In August 2022, Lakeway City Council approved (6-1) a transportation bond election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 in the amount not to exceed $17,500,000. This will be known as City of Lakeway, Texas Proposition A, and the funds will be used "for the purpose of designing, acquiring, constructing, renovating, improving, upgrading, updating, and equipping streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, pathways, bike and pedestrian system improvements, demolition, repair, and rebuilding of existing streets and other transportation facilities."

Over the last several months, Lakeway City Council discussed possible transportation projects to be added as part of a list for improvements to the Lakeway transportation system. A City Manager Town Hall focusing on these possible transportation projects was also held in April 2022 at the Lakeway Activity Center. The City of Lakeway received numerous comments from City Council meetings and the town hall based on the possible list of projects, which has since been revised. The current list includes 11 expected projects, with items relating to right-of-way acquisition for the future widening of RM 620, traffic signalizations, culvert improvements, sidewalk construction, road construction projects and road resurfacing work. As a background, Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway Boulevard and Lakeway Drive are all showing signs of cracking due to increased traffic and the 2021 winter storm, along with reaching their projected lifecycle when maintenance work is typically recommended by engineers.

The list below are the 11 expected projects as part of the $17.5 million bond proposition. Voter registration deadline is Oct. 10, 2022. Early voting starts Oct. 24, 2022 and runs through Nov. 4, 2022.
