"Cynical rebrand": The Cut Slams GOP Candidates for Lying About Their Anti-Abortion Records
A new story from The Cut is calling out Republican candidates for governor - including Mark Robinson, Dave Reichert, and Kelly Ayotte - for saying "they won't touch their state's current abortion protections despite their anti-choice track records suggesting otherwise."
The Cut took particular issue with Mark Robinson for recently launching a new ad that falsely claimed he will stand by the state's current abortion restrictions, noting, "It's a very different tone for the Republican to strike. Robinson has long opposed the right to choose, spoken at anti-abortion rallies, and favored extreme abortion restrictions without exceptions even in cases of rape and incest."
The article continued: "Every one of these candidates has transparently shown voters who they are through their anti-abortion records and past remarks. Whatever sleight of hand they are attempting now isn't 'softening' or 'moderating' at all, and voters shouldn't buy the cynical rebrand."
This comes as all three candidates have been desperately lying to voters about their anti-abortion records in new misleading TV ads. NBC also mentioned this pattern of deceit, reporting, "The ads come as Republicans grapple with Democratic efforts to brand them as extreme on the issue."
