3rd Day of Mathematics at BTU

3rd Day of Mathematics at BTU

On May 4, 2024, the Day of Mathematics will once again take place at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. The day will once again focus on a major Mathematics competition for teams in three age groups. Afterwards, there will be a varied program with lectures, hands-on activities and information about studying math.

Nicolas Borchard, a Master's student in his 4th semester at BTU, says: "You shouldn't miss the Day of Mathematics if you're interested in Mathematics, if you want to get to know BTU a bit and, of course, for fame and glory :)"

This year, he himself is once again working as a corrector of the tasks: "In 2019, I was still a student at Steenbeck-Gymnasium, when our team won first place."

Nicolas first considered other places to study after graduating from high school, but then decided on his hometown and doesn't regret his decision: "I would give my study programme 10 out of 10 points, I'm really absolutely satisfied." He explains: "I firmly believe that studying at the big universities such as TU Munich or TU Dresden doesn't have to be better, in fact it usually isn't better, because the supervision ratio here at BTU is much better."

Nicolas also appreciates the fact that he knows all of the students and professors on his study programme; everyone is almost a team. "The lectures are challenging, but not too difficult. The professors go out of their way to help with problems and create interesting lectures."

In addition to his studies, he is involved in the student council as Treasurer and he also quickly found a part-time job at BTU: "People are always needed to check homework, and advanced students can also hold exercises themselves."
