Port of Kaohsiung noted that, covering a combined 3.5 hectares, lots 2 and 3 in Qianzhen District represent relatively large areas of port land open for development. Their clean, rectangular boundary lines and strategic location near the port's main container wharves and the new bridge connecting the port to the national transportation grid make these lots ideal for developing logistics services. PTC is engaged primarily in Asia-Pacific e-commerce, sea and air logistics and warehousing, and FTZ-based semiconductor equipment sales. In addition to their current sea freight forwarding and FTZ activities in Qianzhen District lot 1, PTC operates sea and air shipping, cargo-to-post, post-to-post, and other cross-border e-commerce-related services. PTC is looking to further integrate its exceptional logistics management services with sea and airport-based warehouse facilities to build up Taiwan's capabilities and attractiveness as an international hub for goods transshipment and delivery as well as to fuel growth in logistics-adjacent and related industries.
PTC signed the lease on lots 2 and 3 with the port on October 6th. Their plans call for a staged development of the property. Ground will be broken on lot 2 on October 30th in a ceremony marking the start of construction on the Kaohsiung Integrated Logistics Park. When completed, the two-story warehouse on lot 2 will provide 17,190 square meters of floorspace. The second story will open up onto a platform connecting to the existing traffic ramp and second-story platform on lot 1, which will maximize access for trucks traveling to and from these two buildings and reduce vehicle energy expenditures to optimize the effectiveness of building operations and related business services. Lot 2 facilities are expected to be completed and begin commercial operations by the end of 2024, after which work will begin on the second new logistics warehouse on lot 3.
PTC's completion of its logistics warehouses on lots 2 and 3, in combination with their sea freight forwarding facility on lot 1, will be the nexus of the port's Cross-Border Integrated Logistics Park. Port of Kaohsiung will continue working closely and wholeheartedly with its shipping company and other industry stakeholders. Connected to the world by a dense network of shipping routes and providing highly efficient services to its shipping company clients, Port of Kaohsiung is diligently working to greatly reduce the time and resources spent by logistics service providers on logistics coordination, applications, integration, and other procedures; optimize and improve warehouse and delivery logistics efficiencies; and, ultimately, promote regional business and economic development.
