Rep. Matt Reeves Applauds Approval of Gwinnett Homestead Referendum

ATLANTA - State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) applauds Gwinnett County voters for approving two homeowner property relief referenda on the May 21, 2024, ballot. House Bill 711, which Rep. Reeves sponsored alongside a group of bipartisan Gwinnett legislators, doubles the homestead exemption for all Gwinnett County homeowners and was approved by 73.81 percent of voters. Additionally, House Bill 748, providing further homeowner tax relief for school, law enforcement, hospital and military personnel, passed with 63.47 percent of the vote.

"Hardworking Gwinnett homeowners deserve substantial tax relief to support their pursuit of the American Dream," said Rep. Reeves. "I am immensely proud to have championed this cause for Gwinnett's homeowners and taxpayers. The overwhelming approval by Gwinnett voters demonstrates our community's strong commitment to providing much-needed financial relief and fostering a better quality of life for all."

These tax relief measures received more votes than any other candidate or decision on the May 21, 2024, Gwinnett ballot. Remarkably, they represent the first property tax relief referenda in Gwinnett County in 36 years.

Representative Matt Reeves represents the citizens of District 99, which includes portions of Gwinnett County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee and Secretary of the Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee. He also serves on the Judiciary Non-Civil Committee.
