This report sets out the findings from our surveillance programme on transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) in livestock, specifically:

  • bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE)
  • scrapie
  • chronic wasting disease

The programme allows us to monitor:

  • levels of TSEs over time using active and passive surveillance
  • the continued effectiveness of our controls.
