IUIU Attends The Gender-Responsive Pedagogy Workshop Organised By The Forum for African Women Educationists, Uganda Chapter

IUIU attended the workshop organized by the Forum for African Women Educationists Uganda chapter on gender-responsive pedagogy from 4/03/2024 to 8/03/2024.

Members from ten universities in Uganda attended the workshop. The members from different universities included academic Registrars, directors of quality assurance, deans of faculties, heads of departments, and lecturers among others.

IUIU was represented by Ms. Nagadya Hamidah AG Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Aminah Hassan a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Education, and Ms. Nakiga Ziadah, Head of the Department of Nursing.

At the climax of the workshop, Ms. Nagadya Hamidah was unanimously elected as the chairperson, Dr. Milton as the vice chairperson, Ms. Lydia as a secretary, Mr. Atiku as a publicity officer on the committee for the Forum for African Women Educationists inter-institutional forum on gender-responsive pedagogy. Dr. Grace was also elected as the treasurer on the same committee.

The rationale of the workshop was to train universities on how to apply and implement gender-responsive pedagogy in higher institutions of learning.
It also aimed to empower trainers to cascade GRP knowledge across their institutions and communities.
The occasion was graced by a principal officer in the Department of Higher Education Ministry of Education and Sports who emphasized the need to implement gender equity in higher education.
