Bruce County Participating in CAF Exercise Trillium Venture

Bruce County Emergency Management, along with Community Emergency Management Coordinators from many Bruce County municipalities, have collaborated with the Canadian Armed Forces Canadian 31 Brigade Group on their upcoming Exercise Trillium Venture, occurring in Bruce and Huron Counties the weekend of May 3 to May 5.

Emergency Control Group members from Bruce County, the Municipality of Brockton, the Municipality of South Bruce, the Municipality of Kincardine, and the Township of Huron Kinloss will be participating in a tabletop exercise on Thursday, May 2 that will lead into the deployment of the Domestic Response Companies (DRCs) and Territorial Battalion Group (TBG). This partnership will contribute to these municipalities and all of Bruce County's prevention, mitigation, and preparedness for potential emergencies in our area. By working together in this exercise, we will identify best practices and lessons learned in order to best prepare our communities for an emergency and improve our overall resiliency, response, and recovery.

"We are pleased to be included in assisting with the planning for the Canadian 31 Brigade Group's deployment to Bruce County for the weekend of May 3 to May 5. Although our County and communities are well positioned to respond to emergencies, enhancing and exercising our response capability in the event of an extreme weather event is good practice. We are also very pleased to be working so closely with our lower-tier municipalities to ensure a cohesive response to ensure public safety and subsequent community recovery if an emergency strikes," said Raymond Lux, Bruce County Emergency Management Coordinator.

These exercises are a great way to lead into Emergency Preparedness Week which runs from May 5 - May 11 in 2024. Emergency Preparedness Week is an opportunity for everyone to take action to ensure they are prepared to protect themselves, their families, and their communities during an emergency.
