RATU NAIQAMA LALABALAVU, GONE TURAGA BALE NA TUI CAKAU URGES PROVINCIAL COUNCIL TO PRIORITIZE EDUCATION-(05-04-2024)

Cakaudrove's paramount chief and Speaker of the Fiji Parliament, Na Gone Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu today reiterated the importance of education in advancing development and progress for the province.
While opening the two-day meeting of the Cakaudrove Provincial Council in the chiefly village of Somosomo, Ratu Naiqama stressed that education is key to the well-being of the province and its people.
Speaking in iTaukei, he said that the younger generation should be encouraged to attain the highest level of education to uplift their standard of living and advance the province's development priorities and initiatives.
Ratu Naiqama stressed that education is fundamental to the well-being of the province, and must be relevant to one's chosen field, trade or profession, be it farming, fishing, religious leadership, business, law, medicine or politics.
He also emphasized the importance of land cultivation in fostering socioeconomic growth.
The Turaga Bale Na Tui Cakau also stressed the need for cadetship and relevant training programs in the disciplined services for youth and society to instil discipline and combat crime.
Ratu Naiqama concluded his remarks by acknowledging his people for their efforts in developing the province.
The Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka also attended the meeting and updated the provincial council on the Coalition Government's development plans and progress.
While acknowledging the time required for full-scale development, he reaffirmed that the government would address raised concerns spanning fisheries, health, education, and infrastructure development, to name just a few.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the development of the nation is progressive.
This means that Government has the responsibility to build and improve on the progress made by previous Governments.
Therefore, the Peoples Coalition Government would strive to implement promises made by previous administrations and build on the progress achieved by successive governments.
