The City of Grande Prairie has awarded the contract for service provision at the Coordinated Care Campus to The Mustard Seed.

The Mustard Seed's mission is in alignment with the Coordinated Care Campus's recovery-oriented model of care. Their programs and services include basic needs, health and wellness, housing, employment, spiritual care and community engagement. They will also be present on the Housing HUB table with other local housing and mental health organizations.

"The City of Grande Prairie is pleased to welcome The Mustard Seed as part of our housing and homelessness initiatives. With their experience and expertise, they are well-equipped to lead the services and programs at the Coordinated Care Campus which will support residents in sustaining long-term housing, meeting our objectives for the Homelessness Strategy and ensuring a social and economic return on investment," says Mayor Jackie Clayton.

"The Mustard Seed is both humbled and excited to be selected by the City of Grande Prairie to work with this amazing community. We look forward to building strong partnerships in the community and working together to support those who have experienced homelessness," says Katie Kitschke, Senior Director of Affordable Housing & Property Management at The Mustard Seed.

The Mustard Seed was selected as the new service provider through a competitive procurement process. They start on February 1, 2024.

The City of Grande Prairie is thankful for Northreach Society's work as the previous service provider, and their ongoing support for the project.

About the Coordinated Care Campus

The Coordinated Care Campus is a supportive housing facility designed to address chronic homelessness in the community. Approved in 2021 as a Rapid Housing Initiative, the Coordinated Care Campus will see a former hotel and conference center converted into supportive housing units and municipal offices.

Grande Prairie has a strongly identified need for supportive housing based on the Grande Prairie Five Year Plan to End Homelessness (2015-2019), Affordable Housing Action Plan (2021-2022), and Homelessness Strategy (2021-2023).

Supportive housing helps residents maintain their housing, reducing the volume of homelessness and related issues in the city and creating a safer, vibrant community for all residents.
