Nairobi County Director, Nancy Kiruri, Leads Crucial Workshop on Sector Budget Proposals for FYs 2024/2025 – 2026/2027

Naivasha, 29th November, 2023

Nairobi County Director, Head of Budget and Expenditure Management, Nancy Kiruri is currently spearheading a week long workshop with all county sectors on submission of sector budget proposals for the FYs 2024/2025 - 2026/2027.

All Sector Working Groups and Sub Sector Technical Working groups will be submitting their respective sector budget proposals in line with the guidelines on budget preparation by the office of the County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning.
Speaking during the start of the workshop, County Director Nancy Kiruri said, "This is a starting point of next financial year budget. Sectors need to make sure that all their programs are borrowed from the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and aligned with the Governors' Manifesto. The Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) is the cornerstone of budget formulation process. It's anchored on program based budgeting which is mainly a promotion of output or outcome approach of budgeting".

Deputy Head of Budget James Ngunjiri emphasized the need for all sectors to ensure that all genders are considered with specific programs targeting persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Five sectors; Mobility and Works, Health, Wellness, and Nutrition, Built Environment and Urban Planning, Innovation and Digital Economy, Inclusivity, Public Participation and Customer Service have so far made their presentations.

Boroughs and personnel, Lydia Mathia, County Chief Officer for Lands, Cecilia Koigu, County Chief Officer for ICT Infrastructure, John Lintari, County Chief Officer for Smart Nairobi, Tiras Njoroge, County Chief Officer for Mobility, Boniface Nyamu, County Chief Officer for Works, Eng. Geoffrey Tirop, County Budget Officers, County Directors and officers.
