On Friday afternoon, March 29, the Los Angeles County registrar certified the results of the March 5 election.
Here is the vote count and percentage for each candidate in the two district elections:
Jeff Wood: 57.41% (2,391 votes)
Ariel Pe: 42.59% (1,774 votes)
District 4:
David Arellano: 63.25% (2,556 votes)
Vicki L. Stuckey: 36.75% (1,491 votes)
NOTE: This is a General Election, with no runoff, and the top vote-getter for each district is declared the winner for that district.

The two winners from the election are expected to be sworn in and begin their council terms at the City Council meeting on April 9.
In 2022, Lakewood converted from its traditional system, where all five council members were elected at-large by the entire city, to a new district system where each council member is elected by the residents of one of five districts in the city. Residents in Districts 1, 2 and 5 elected council members in the 2022 election. Residents in Districts 3 and 4 elected district-based council members for the first time on March 5, 2024.
The change to district elections was necessitated by a state law, the California Voting Rights Act, which has led to hundreds of small and mid-sized cities and school districts having to make this same transition to district elections. In the past, the district system was used primarily just in large cities.
See maps of the districts and additional information about the new district election system.
