SONY PICTURES CLASSICS ACQUIRES WORLDWIDE RIGHTS TO ‘A LITTLE PRAYER’ FOLLOWING SUNDANCE WORLD PREMIERE

NEW YORK (January 27, 2023) - Sony Pictures Classics announced today that they have acquired all rights worldwide to A LITTLE PRAYER, written and directed by Angus MacLachlan, who also produced alongside Lauren Vilchik and Max A. Butler. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this week to rave reviews.

Starring David Strathairn, Jane Levy, Dascha Polanco, Will Pullen, Anna Camp, and Celia Weston, the film follows a man who tries to protect his daughter-in-law when he discovers his son is having an affair. A LITTLE PRAYER touches upon a variety of issues in a changing modern South, including a woman's volition over her own body, war veterans grappling with PTSD, and the limits of patriarchal interference.

The film reunites Sony Pictures Classics with MacLachlan, who wrote JUNEBUG.

"I am so pleased to be taken into the Sony Pictures Classics family again. It's an honor to be one of their carefully curated roster. And I know how much Michael Barker, Tom Bernard, and their entire team are true film lovers. I am over the moon," said MacLachlan.

The deal was negotiated between WME Independent and SPC.
