SAN ANTONIO (June 10, 2021) - The City of San Antonio Planning Department, in collaboration with City Council District 10, unveiled signage on the intersection of Thousand Oaks and Perrin Beitel to promote the renewal of the corridor through the NEC Enhancement Matching Grant Program.
As one of the major grants and incentives of the NEC Revitalization Program, the NEC Enhancement Matching Grant program encourages the renewal of the Perrin Beitel - Nacogdoches revitalization area by providing assistance to owners and tenants of commercial properties with façade, landscape, and signage improvements to their businesses. Interested business owners and tenants must submit an application for review. Presently, applications are being accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed on a first come first served basis.
'Small businesses are the lifeblood of our community,' said Councilman Clayton Perry. 'We need to do everything we can to ensure their success here in San Antonio, especially given the negative impact the pandemic had on small businesses. The NEC Revitalization Program gives business owners a chance to make improvements that regenerate and restore this corridor.'
'The grant program has helped both of our business locations grow as prominent childcare centers in the Northeast Corridor. Our storefront is now cleaner and safer, has a better parking lot, and stands out among other businesses,' said grant recipient and owner of multiple Bright Kids Daycare facilities.
'We welcome all interested business owners and tenants within the revitalization area to review the program details and apply for this grant incentive.' said Bridgett White, AICP, Director of the Planning Department. 'The renewal of the Northeast Corridor area is an ongoing effort; the program assists with making this a reality and visibly impacting the area's streetscape.'
The designated Northeast Corridor (NEC) area includes the commercial areas surrounding Perrin Beitel and Nacogdoches Roads between NE Loop 410 and O'Connor Road as well as portions of Naco-Perrin Boulevard, Thousand Oaks Drive, and Wurzbach Parkway.
