Defence Minister’s meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Republic


Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, had a meeting with the Chairman of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, on Tuesday, November 21.

During the talks, the officials addressed the main landmarks and prospects for the increase of bilateral cooperation, the security situation in the Black Sea Region, the multidimensional support provided to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, as well as the main coordinates of the NATO and EU agendas.

Also, the need to enhance defence cooperation between the two states was emphasized, the Romanian official also highlighting the good cooperation between our countries at the level of centers of excellence, personnel training and specific activities in the fields of cyber defence and information technology.

The two officials agreed on the need to maintain a constant and structured bilateral dialogue in order to enhance and substantiate the relationship in the field of defence and to effectively implement the common specific projects developed both in a bilateral context, as well as within Allied or European context.

The cooperation between Romania and the Czech Republic, within NATO and EU formats, given the current security context, was also listed on the meeting agenda, urgent priorities being addressed at the level of Romanian-Czech collaboration and coordination, with focus on the allied deterrence and defence posture. At the same time, the two officials also addressed topics related to common priorities in the context of the NATO Vilnius Summit, as well as to the cooperation within the European Union initiatives dedicated to the European defence profiling.
