18 November 2022 - QUEZON CITY. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations conducted the second training on the Compilation and Analysis of Food Balance Sheets for the Philippines from 14 to 18 November 2022 at the PSA Media Room, 12th Floor Eton Centris Cyberpod 5, Quezon City.

This is one component in the series of capacity building activities to capacitate the compilers on the new concepts, methodology and compilation tool towards the improvement of SUA/FBS of the Philippines.

The first training was conducted online last 21 to 22 September 2022 where the focus was on SUA/FBS concepts, the differences between the old and new FBS methodologies, and some new approaches to the balancing mechanism. The second training was devoted on the data collection and validation, data uploading to the R-Shiny tool (new SUA/FBS compiling tool), and analysis of results. Meanwhile, the third and last training is scheduled in March 2023 which aims to review and validate the SUA/FBS data outputs and national FBS report.

The PSA is the key partner and implementor of the FAO for its project, "Strengthening of Agricultural Statistics through the Review and Assessment of the Agricultural Indicators System (AIS) and Supply Utilization Accounts/Food Balance Sheet (SUA/FBS)", TCP/PHI/3902/C2. This project aims to strengthen the existing compilation of the SUA/FBS and the generation of the indicators of the AIS.
