One Year Ago Today, Anna Paulina Luna Voted To Cut Veterans’ Health Care, Gut Jobs, and Jeopardize Funding For Law Enforcement

One year ago today, Anna Paulina Luna passed the Default on America Act, far-right legislation that risked the safety and security of American families, nearly forcing the U.S. to default on its debts.

Had House Democrats not saved our country from a catastrophic default, the extreme MAGA Republican wish-list backed by Anna Paulina Luna would have:

  • Gutted funding for veterans' health care for the more than 57,000 veterans in her district;

  • Jeopardized over 150,000 Florida jobs;

  • Increased taxes on everyday families and raised energy prices,

  • Risked thousands of children losing their teachers and a quality education;

  • Threatened health care coverage for roughly 157,000 seniors, children, and disabled Americans who rely on Medicaid;

  • Jeopardized law enforcement funding, and more.

The 118th Congress has been mired in chaos, crisis, and confusion. Thanks to Luna, history will remember this Congress being the least productive in modern American history.

DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
"Anna Paulina Luna will continue to face the consequences for joining extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene to support a plan that would have cut veterans' health benefits, raise costs, and threaten the safety of Florida families. Since then, Luna has refused to break from the extremism that has all but halted the business of our government to meet the needs of working and middle class families."
