SPIE supports Le Point magazine in the overhaul of its infrastructure and the implementation of an IT management service

Malakoff, 24 April 2024 -SPIE ICS, a French digital services company and subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is supporting Le Point magazine in the overhaul and IT management of its system and storage infrastructure. The French weekly publication wants to streamline administration of its IT systems while making them more resilient and scalable. The SPIE ICS proposal is based on a Nutanix solution and guarantees the highest standards of performance. The IT management service includes a strong commitment regarding infrastructure availability and incident handling.

Le Point, France's leading weekly news magazine, was looking for a more secure and scalable infrastructure. With a high degree of criticality (publishing the magazine requires four editorial deadlines per week), the platform hosting the editorial tool must meet high availability requirements and be as reliable as possible.

Transformation to a more resilient infrastructure

The SPIE ICS teams have configured a hyperconverged infrastructure based on a Nutanix solution, which delivers every performance and security guarantee, not least due to replication across the magazine's two IT sites. Moving to hyperconverged infrastructure provides greater flexibility and productivity, along with lower direct and indirect costs. As a preferred partner of the American software publisher in France, SPIE ICS has a high level of technical expertise concerning the use of Nutanix solutions. The digital services company's teams worked closely with Le Pointmagazine's IT department to install and configure this new infrastructure, and then complete all migrations, without any downtime.

An IT management solution based on proximity and availability

Le Pointmagazine then wanted to outsource IT management of the installed infrastructure. Several requirements were to be met: no downtime during wrapping up sessions and a strong commitment to availability and incident handling.

The SPIE ICS teams proposed an IT management solution to the Le PointIT department based on proximity and responsiveness, provided by the SPIE ICS service and expertise centre in Grenoble. This centre also ensures the continuous security of the infrastructure and virtual servers. These strong commitments and the quality of the work completed when revamping the infrastructure persuaded the magazine's teams to outsource the management of their infrastructure, servers and network, which it has entrusted to SPIE ICS for three years.

"Our working relationship with Le Point magazine's IT department was built on the basis of constant dialogue, with lots of listening and proactiveness. These conversations enabled us to develop the most efficient and secure solutions for the magazine and, ultimately, its readers",says Sabine Lamandé, Business Engineer at SPIE ICS.

"We have entrusted our most important asset to the SPIE ICS teams: our output. We were convinced not only by the expertise of their teams but also by their understanding of the challenges we face. The results we now see are measured by the streamlining of network administration and the improvements made in terms of resilience and security",says Olivier Bost, IT and Industrial Director of Le Pointmagazine.
