Power of a Name: I&M Calls to Community to Help Name Falcon Chicks

Since 2013, peregrine falcons, Moxie and Jamie, have won over bird enthusiasts around the world. With the addition of four chicks now occupying the nest box, the time has come to name the next falcons to fly the Fort Wayne skies.

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) is calling on the community to help vote on the official names for the falcon chicks. With help from the Teens for Nature Program at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, we have a list of options to choose from:

  • Tom
  • Cindy
  • Erie
  • Linden
  • April
  • River
  • Shelley
  • Aster
  • Peony
  • Bradley
  • Vera
  • Wane
  • Mary
  • Anthony
  • Henry
  • Daisy
  • Johnny
  • Apple
  • Hoosier
  • Storm

The survey will remain open through the end of the day Wednesday, May 15. Vote for your favorite names by clicking here to take the survey.

The winning names will be announced Friday, May 17 at a banding and naming ceremony in partnership with Soarin' Hawk Raptor Rehab, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Indiana Audubon Society.

You can view the chicks and their proud parents by visiting I&M's live webcam: www.IndianaMichiganPower.com/FalconCam. This stream offers a 24/7 view of the nest box from the roof of the Indiana Michigan Power Center.

Since 1996, 73 falcon chicks have hatched in the Fort Wayne nesting box, making it one of the more productive falcon restoration sites in the Midwest.
