Lt. Governor Burt Jones Issues Statement on the Senate Passage of FY25 Budget

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones issued a statement on the Senate passage of House Bill 916, the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget.

"I want to thank Chairman Tillery and all members of the Senate Appropriations Committee for all of their hard work on the FY 25 budget," said Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. "This budget reflects the Senate's priority to increase funding for education, public safety and health care, while continuing to appropriate tax payer dollars in a fiscally, conservative manner."

Some of the highlights of the Fiscal Year 2025 budget include:

Over $6M to stabilize the statewide trauma network.

$6M for literacy coaches and initiatives throughout the state.

$3,000 additional pay increase for law enforcement to be added on top of the approved 4% raise.

Over $1M for a Sickle Cell Management pilot program to assist with an underserved population in Atlanta.

Over $16M for the provider rate increase for Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP).

Promoted efficiencies by requiring school systems to utilize the same testers to test for dyslexia, while testing for literacy as well.
