The World Food Programme Joins the CMA CGM Foundation’s Containers of Hope Program

A strategic partnership to increase humanitarian impact

The CMA CGM Foundation has signed a strategic partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to support the organization's efforts to provide life-saving food and assistance to people affected by conflicts, disasters, and the climate crisis.

Under the "Containers of Hope" program, the CMA CGM Foundation will transport 1,000 twenty-foot equivalent containers per year free of charge to support the WFP's operations, using the CMA CGM Group's network and assets to support the WFP's humanitarian mission around the world.

This partnership between the CMA CGM Foundation and the World Food Programme strengthens WFP's ability to help those in need and accelerates progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

Two global humanitarian players committed to helping the most vulnerable

As the United Nations agency at the forefront of the global fight against hunger, WFP provides life-saving assistance in emergencies and uses food aid to pave the way for peace, stability, and prosperity for communities around the world. In 2023 alone, WFP provided life-saving, life-changing assistance to 150 million people in over 120 countries and territories. On any given day, WFP mobilizes 6,500 trucks, 20 ships, and 140 aircraft to reach those in need.

Created in 2005 and chaired by Tanya Saadé Zeenny, the CMA CGM Foundation is driven by a sense of responsibility, a spirit of solidarity and a passion for entrepreneurship. It focuses on two main missions: humanitarian aid and education for all.
