Unified Government Welcomes 20 ProX Youth Summer Interns

Last week the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) welcomed 20 ProX Summer interns into various UG departments for a hands-on experience with local government.

This second-year partnership with ProX allows area youth ages 14 to 18 to obtain a 5-week internship with the UG and other local organizations to gain professional and personal development in a workplace. Spread throughout nine UG departments, ProX interns will gain knowledge of what it is like to work for the UG and serve the community.

Interns will work with department managers and staff to identify a department challenge project and help develop solutions that will be presented on July 13, at the ProX Summer student showcase.

ProX is a Real World Learning initiative providing summer professional experiences for high school students. It provides an ideal time for focused learning and capacity building while creating paid opportunities for students to earn Market Value Assets (MVAs), learn essential skills and build social capital.
