Most people go their whole lives without rescuing someone. Marquette graduate student Harry Baker saved two people's lives in one year. He is, without question, a Marquette Difference Maker.

While on vacation, the former track student-athlete and current graduate assistant coach rescued a friend from drowning, performing CPR while directing a friend to call 911. Due to Harry's swift action, the classmate did not sustain any long-term injuries and made a full recovery.

"His awareness…in the midst of that stress is pretty remarkable," says MUPD Officer Tom Wichgers.

Later that year, while lifeguarding on campus, Harry again found himself coming to another's aid. Let's hear more from our latest Difference Maker and others on his bravery and calm under pressure.

Best,
Dr. Michael R. Lovell
