The Holy See ratifies the 2019 Regional Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean

On 1 March 2023, the Holy See ratified the Regional Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (Buenos Aires, 13 July 2019).

The instrument contained the following declaration:

"In relation with article V.3 of the Regional Convention on the Recognition of Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, done in Buenos Aires on 13 July 2019, the Holy See declares that, once the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education, done in Paris on 25 November 2019, will have entered into force, the provisions more favorable to recognition contained in the Global Convention shall apply to its reciprocal relations with those States which are Parties to both instruments." In accordance with the terms of its Article V.2, the Convention will enter into force with respect to the Holy See one month after the date of deposit of this instrument, that is to say on 1 April 2023.
