Tashkent hosted Forum of Women - centered NGOs

23 August 2023, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Today the Forum of Women's Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organisations of Uzbekistan brought together more than 100 representatives of ministries and departments, the business sector and academia, women leaders and entrepreneurs, civil activists and experts from all regions of the country on one platform.

The event was organised with the financial support of the European Union and the State Trust Fund for Supporting Family and Women by the Nationwide Movement Yuksalish, the Family and Women's Committee, together with a number of partners.

The programme of the forum, along with a plenary session and presentations of national experience, included events in an interactive format - success stories of women's NGOs, group discussions using the "The World Cafe" method, and others. In the speeches, the emphasis was placed on strengthening the role of NGOs dealing with family and women's issues, supporting their achievements and initiatives in the field of ensuring the rights and interests of women, the widespread introduction of best practices, practices and innovative approaches of NGOs in support of women, protecting their rights and interests.

We need more women leaders everywhere. Involving more women in decision-making enhances the credibility of democratic institutions and leads to more inclusive governance, - Mindaugas Kacerauskis, Chargé d'affaires of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan.

Based on the results of the plenary session and work in groups, recommendations were developed to further increase the activity of women and their role in the socio-economic and socio-political spheres, the development of women's entrepreneurship, the improvement of the legal framework aimed at comprehensive support for women, the implementation of international obligations of Uzbekistan, potential of women's NGOs, their partnership with government agencies and international organizations.

The forum has become a platform for establishing contacts and developing cooperation between women's NGOs in Uzbekistan, an impetus for establishing partnerships that will contribute to the effective solution of social problems and the achievement of common goals, help strengthen the role of women in society, protect and promote their rights and interests.
