WETEX & DSS 2023 organises 44 specialised sessions and seminars on day two

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised 44 specialised sessions and seminars during the second day of the 25th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Show (DSS) 2023, with the participation of many international experts and specialists.

DEWA is organising WETEX and DSS 2023, under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 15 to 17 November 2023.

The main seminars held on the second day of the exhibition focused on the topics: Empowering Sustainable Energy Solutions: ACWA Power's Vision for a Net-Zero Future, First HV DC links in KSA OHL networks, conductor design, DC loss studies, manufacturing and testing, Fluoride-free electrical switches, Partnership Tour, New Technology in Solid Handling Pumping Applications, Sustainability Cities: The Impact of Innovation & Technology on the future of the real estate industry, Sustainability Practices in Real Estate Development, Interoperability -The Pillar of Smart Cities, Hatta Pumped storage hydro plant, Modular & Future Ready Medium Voltage Hybrid SF6 Switchgears, and Digital Secondary Systems for the Digital Substation.

Graduates of the DEWA Sustainability Youth Ambassadors Programme, launched in cooperation with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), also conducted sessions on clean energy technologies.

The second day also witnessed sessions at the renewable energy and sustainability seminar hall, on the following topics: MENA Energy Transition and Pathways to Net-Zero, MENA Energy Transition and Pathways to Net-Zero, Hydrogen Horizons: Unleashing MENA's Low Carbon Potential and a Bright Outlook for the Future, Hydrogen Revolution Unleashed: Unlocking MENA's Low Carbon Potential and Igniting the Power of Change, Empowering Efficiency and Decarbonisation in Building Transformations, The Role of Cooling as a Service in Global Decarbonisation, Efficiency Amplified: Accelerating the Middle East's Energy Transformation through Enhanced Efficiency, Green Buildings in the MENA Region: Status & Outlook, The Net-Zero Pathway at Masdar City, Green Buildings and Real Estate Decarbonisation in the MENA Region and Macro Drivers of Change: Navigating the Impact on Energy, Water, and Circular Economy.

Meanwhile, the Water Hall seminars covered the following topics: WILO Intelligent Technology for Increasing Efficiency and Reliability in Wastewater Pumping, The Power of Smart Water, Water Refinery: Water Reuse and Recovery of Valuable Substances, Membrane Based Process on Water Recycling/Water Reuse and Unlocking Advantages Through Circular Water and Energy Resources - Exploring AIOT Applications in Water Management.

At the Creative and Innovative Energy Seminar, session topics included Supplier Lifecycle, Implementing Effective Data Management Solutions, Clean Innovations and Entering Africa: New Technologies that Improve Environmental Performance, Energy for Future: Quality of UAE Manufactured Solar Panels, Application of AI 5G and IoT in Transmission Lines Visual Inspection, and Digital Ecosystems - Disrupting the Built World with Technology.

Furthermore, Emaar Properties' Sustainability Hub witnessed the launch of the Nabta initiative in collaboration with Alesca Life by Emaar, in addition to a session entitled 'Sustainability in the Hospitality Sector' by Emaar Hospitality Group and a presentation by Emaar titled 'Insights from our Sustainability Challenge Experience'.

The Innovators Lab also hosted sessions on the following topics: Expo City Dubai's Integrated Business Ecosystem, Navigating Challenges for Cleantech Startups in the Middle East, Green Startup Acceleration: Driving Impactful Change in the Sustainability Landscape, and Benefits of Licensing in DMCC. The lab also featured showcases by startups on biotechnology, agritech, Artificial Intelligence, and the electric mobility sector.
