For the Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, a qualifier awaits in the first round of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, but that will certainly not be an easy task. The qualifying tournament in Rotterdam Ahoy is traditionally extremely strong. This year, no less than six players have a ranking within the top 80 of the world.
Daniil Medvedev, 56th on the Emirates ATP ranking, is the highest qualified player. The Russian meets the Pool Lukasz Kubot in the opening round. The Dutch with a wildcard have all three drawn a strong opponent. The matches are Scott Griekspoor-Andreas Seppi, Tim van Rijthoven-Thomas Fabbiano and Botic van de Zandschulp-Nicolas Mahut.
A notable name in the qualifying tournament is the Slovak Martin Klizan, who won the ABN AMRO Tennis Tournament in 2016.
