Address to readers of book, Crimea: Chapters of History from Ancient Times to the Present Day

The President's message reads, in part:

"The history of Crimea is inseparable from the history of our Fatherland. This ancient land is home to great spiritual and military landmarks of our people, as well as unique archaeological and cultural monuments. It has not only produced a multitude of courageous warriors, innovators and creators, outstanding people of science and art, but has also inspired poets, writers, artists, and musicians to craft true masterpieces.

A truly fateful moment for the people of Sevastopol and Crimea occurred on March 16, 2014, when they decisively and unequivocally chose to be permanently with Russia. Now, Crimea and Sevastopol are integral parts of Russia and make substantial contributions to fortifying the unity and security of our country. Comprehensive programmes focused on economic and social development, as well as enhancing the quality of life for residents, are effectively underway in these regions. Special emphasis is placed on safeguarding the priceless cultural and spiritual heritage of this remarkable area.

I am confident that the book, which marks the 10th anniversary of the reunion of Crimea and Sevastopol with Russia, will be a milestone and will be of interest to a wide audience: those who love their Motherland, take pride in its rich history, and want to know as much as possible about it.

I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the collaborative writing team - renowned scientists, archaeologists, museum professionals, publicists, government officials, and public figures - for their tremendous, meticulous, and genuinely selfless effort."
