Storm Clean Up Continues

Council received around 1500 reports after the 13 February storm. Approximately 85% of these requests have been completed. It is estimated, a quarter of Council street and park trees, approximately 20,000 to 25,000 trees were damaged or impacted by the storm. Over the past few weeks our response has shifted from managing risk to a proactive approach, with five tree contractors now working systematically across the city collecting and chipping fallen branches.

We currently have a growing back log of non-storm related tree request which have been placed on hold whilst we focus on the storm response. These requests will be prioritised based on risk and it's estimated non-urgent requests may take up to 8-12 weeks to inspect and complete. We anticipate a return to standard service response times in July to August. This demonstrates the severe and lasting impacts of a major storm on Councils Urban Forest.
