Matt Corcoran named PNC Regional President and Head of Corporate Banking for St. Louis
ST. LOUIS, Jan. 22, 2025 - PNC Bank announced today that Michael J. Scully, a highly respected banking executive and community champion, will retire April 11, 2025, as PNC regional president for St. Louis. Scully retires following a distinguished 42-year career in banking, including more than a decade at PNC. Matt Corcoran, an experienced corporate banking executive, will succeed Scully as regional president and will continue to lead PNC's local middle market and large corporate banking team as head of Corporate Banking for St. Louis.
During his impactful tenure with PNC, Scully led the bank's successful growth in St. Louis, while building a dynamic team that is collaborative, client-focused and community-centric. For many years, he served as head of Corporate Banking for St. Louis in addition to his regional president responsibilities, bringing his sophisticated dealmaking skills to clients and his generous mentorship to a team of talented bankers.
Scully's leadership of the St. Louis market also entailed delivering on PNC's community commitments. He was instrumental in driving meaningful charitable investments and engagement, including the activation of PNC Grow Up Great® and PNC Arts Alive locally, as well as economic development initiatives and PNC's sponsorship of some of the region's most cherished community traditions, including the Great Forest Park Balloon Race and the St. Louis Blues.
As a tireless proponent for Greater St. Louis' regional exceptionalism in such areas as the arts, biotech and medicine, higher education and philanthropy, Scully's servant leadership, civic citizenry and board service have enriched such organizations and institutions as the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the United Way of Greater St. Louis, the Regional Business Council, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, Radio Arts Foundation, Concordance Academy of Leadership and Greater St. Louis, Inc.
Prior to joining PNC, Scully served in a variety of corporate and commercial banking leadership roles at U.S. Bank.
"Michael's commitment to PNC and the banking industry, combined with his passion for St. Louis, has helped PNC achieve the dual objective of growing our local business and creating impact for the Greater St. Louis region," said Dale Klose, PNC Office of the Regional Presidents Southwest and Mountain territory executive. "His contributions to PNC's local strategy and culture and his extensive engagement in the community have cultivated a legacy of excellence that will continue to inspire and endure for years to come."
In the coming months, Scully will transition his duties to Corcoran, who brings to this role 16 years of experience in the banking industry. Corcoran began his banking career at Bank of America, where he spent nearly seven years as a relationship manager in corporate banking. He joined PNC in 2016 as managing director for Corporate Banking, and in 2023 was elevated to head of Corporate Banking for St. Louis.
A St. Louis native, Corcoran serves on the boards of directors for the St. Louis Sports Commission and Gateway Children's Charity. Additionally, he serves on the advisory board for The First Tee of Greater St. Louis and the alumni board of John Burroughs School.
"Matt is a skilled dealmaker and dynamic leader with significant banking experience, a demonstrated talent for growing business and relationships, and a strong commitment to develop and invest in his colleagues and community," said Chris Goller, PNC Corporate Banking regional executive for the Midwest. "His professional strengths, combined with his deep affinity for St. Louis, make him well positioned to lead this next chapter of PNC's growth and impact story in the region."
Corcoran is a graduate of Wake Forest University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and management. He received his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis - Olin Business School.
