Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

San Francisco, CA - Mayor London N. Breed issued the following statement for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month:

"Throughout Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we recognize the immeasurable contributions of our AAPI communities that have helped shape our incredible City. As the gateway to the Asia-Pacific region, San Francisco is a city rich in AAPI history and culture. We remain committed to welcoming people from all around the world and fostering long-lasting relationships that celebrate a rich cultural heritage and create new opportunities for our City's future.

As we come together this evening to usher in a month of celebrations, I want to congratulate the APA Heritage Foundation on a momentous milestone of 20 years lifting up and highlighting the impactful trailblazers serving San Francisco. I want to express my gratitude to Claudine Cheng, the APA Heritage Celebration Committee, partners like the Asian Art Museum, Center for Asian American Media, and San Francisco Public Library for your continued efforts to uplift this San Francisco tradition.

The Foundation's work has elevated the significance of the AAPI community through events, activities, and educational opportunities. But more importantly, it continues to bring us together to recognize the importance and lasting impact of the AAPI community here in San Francisco."
