Green Nairobi and Murang’a County Collaborate to Enhance Water Management and Distribution

Nairobi, 10th April 2024

Green Nairobi Executive Committee Member for Green Nairobi Mr. Ibrahim Auma together with Murang'a County Executive Committee Member, Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources, Engineer Mary Muthoni Magochi yesterday held discussions on matters water management.

The two Executive Committee Members deliberated on best ways to enhance water distribution, ways to deal with non-revenue water and other crosscutting issues of water as a resource.
Mr. Auma indicated that Nairobi County has committed to establishing adequate capacity to provide quality, efficient and effective water and sanitation services, as well as improve access to water sanitation services to all county residents.

Mr. Auma said that Nairobi County has planted trees along Ndakaini dam in an effort to conserve the dam as one of Nairobi's water source.

Ndakaini dam in Muranga is the biggest water reservoir in the Country supplying about 84% of water consumed in Nairobi County.

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Water and Sanitation Mr. Oscar Omoke was in attendance.
