Jackson City Council Jan. 10, 2023 meeting

Here are highlights of the Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 meeting of the Jackson City Council:

-The City Council were given updates on efforts to reduce homelessness in the City of Jackson. Since last month, 47 individuals and families got off the streets placed in hotels with the help of the City. 10 pallet homes are currently on the way to Jackson and could be installed over the next month. The City continues to work out a lease agreement with Jackson Public Schools to use the T.A. Wilson school property for a homeless shelter.

-The City Council accepted a report from the City Engineer proposing to resurface W. North Street between N. Wisner Street and N. West Avenue. The council also started the process of designing a major overhaul for the Lansing Avenue corridor on the City's north side.

-Special events were approved by the City Council, including the Grow Jackson Groundhog Gallop and the School of the Arts Fairy Festival.
