Austrian Health Minister Visits the JKU Faculty of Medicine

Austrian Minister Johannes Rauch visited the JKU Faculty of Medicine at the end of August.

Stefan Koch (JKU Rector) and Elgin Drda (JKU Vice-Rector for Medicine) gave Austrian Federal Minister Rauch an hour-long tour of our university's Faculty of Medicine. The Minister expressed considerable interest in an interim assessment and the Faculty's future outlook. He also spoke with a number of faculty members about special areas of responsibility and contributions to broader society. Rauch was particularly interested in research and education with regard to general medicine.

The Minister was visibly impressed with Prof. Franz Fellner's presentation of the JKU medSPACE and learning more about how virtual anatomy is revolutionizing how physicians are educated in medicine. Professor Matthias Bolz emphasized how important virtual anatomy is in regard to surgical training.
