Society for Pentecostal Studies Appoints ORU's Dr. Adrian Hinkle to Second Term as Executive Director

Tulsa, Oklahoma, April 30, 2024-The Society for Pentecostal Studies recently appointed Dr. Adrian Hinkle, ORU's Dean for the College of Theology and Ministry, to a second term as the Executive Director. This position, which is part of the Society's Executive Committee, helps supervise the direction of the Society and plans the annual meeting. Dr. Hinkle was first appointed to this role in February 2019.

ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson praised Dr. Hinkle for her leadership, "Dr. Hinkle has an extensive vitae, and as the Dean of ORU's College of Theology and Ministry, she's integral to our mission of developing the next generation of Spirit-empowered leaders, pastors, and academics. She will do an excellent job helping lead the Society and guiding their research for the Spirit-empowered movement."

The Society for Pentecostal Studies is an international community of scholars working within the Pentecostal and Charismatic traditions. Members work together to promote the work of Spirit-empowered scholars and to study the implications of Pentecostal theology. During her first term, Dr. Hinkle helped serve over 1,200 international constituents. Her reappointment, which comes with a five-year term, will help the Society foster collaboration among scholars worldwide.

"I am honored to continue serving the Society and contributing to the vibrant dialogue within our community," said Dr. Hinkle. "Moreover, I look forward to strengthening the stakes that bridge scholars, practitioners, and students within the classroom. As Spirit-empowered leaders, we must actively participate in the conversations and breadth of work that influence existing and future scholars. We have an opportunity to influence education and to shape future leaders of the Church and the Spirit-empowered movement."

Dr. Hinkle's appointment reinforces ORU's standing as a world leader in theological scholarship. ORU is home to the Center for Spirit-empowered Research and the Holy Spirit Resource Center (HSRC), which are both housed in ORU's new J.D. McKean Library, a 39,000-square-foot space that was opened last fall. The HSRC contains one of the largest and most comprehensive Pentecostal-Charismatic and Holy Spirit collections on Earth. With its vast resources on the Holy Spirit and related topics by some of the most important voices in the movement, the HSRC is one of the best places in the world to study the Holy Spirit.
