Girder setting for new Rocheport Bridge may cause delays on the Katy Trail

I-70 traffic not affected

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is advising Katy Trail users of work taking place this week that will impact the trail from the town of Rocheport to the Rocheport Bridge.

The contractor overseeing construction of the new Lance Corporal Leon Deraps Interstate 70 Missouri River (Rocheport) Bridge will be setting structural steel girders over the Katy Trail for a span of the new eastbound bridge.

The trail is expected to remain open, but for the safety of trail users, when girders are being set, flaggers may intermittently halt traffic on the trail between Rocheport and the bridge from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Work is set to begin Thursday, April 18, but could be pushed back if weather conditions are not favorable. Crews will continue working until they have completed setting the span over the trail. This could include intermittent closures on Saturday, April 20, and, if delayed by weather, the work could continue into next week.

This work is highly wind and weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.

Interstate traffic will not be affected by the work.

The Rocheport Bridge project is expected to be completed by Dec. 31, 2024.
