National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in PACE April Session

The standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) took part in the PACE April Session, held 15-19 April 2024, in Strasbourg, Republic of France.

The delegation headed by Biljana Pantic Pilja, comprised delegation members Aleksandar Mirkovic, Dunja Simonovic Bratic, Elvira Kovacs, Vladimir Djordjevic, Djordje Stankovic, Jelena Milosevic and substitute member Dubravka Filipovski.

On 16 April 2024, PACE held a debate on the application by so-called "Kosovo" for membership in the Council of Europe.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted the report of Dora Bakoyannis recommending the so-called "Kosovo" be invited to become a member of the Council of Europe, while deciding to monitor its fulfilment of an extensive list of commitments and obligations as from its accession, of which the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities should feature in the future considerations of the CoE Committee of Ministers on the application by so-called "Kosovo" for membership in the Council of Europe, as a post-accession commitment.

131 of the 171 PACE members present voted for the accession of so-called "Kosovo" into the Council of Europe.

29 representatives voted against the report, while 11 abstained.

The Serbian delegation submitted 10 amendments to the report, none of which were adopted.

Biljana Pantic Pilja, Dunja Simonovic Bratic and Elvira Kovacs, took part in the plenary discussion and severely, with ample argumentation opposed the rapporteur's opinion.
