Work Resumes on I-70/I-635 Interchange

After a scheduled winter shutdown period, a bridge deck replacement project on the westbound I-70 to southbound I-635 flyover ramp will resume Saturday, March 4, in Wyandotte County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project began in May 2022 and includes demolishing and replacing the westbound I-70 to southbound I-635 flyover ramp bridge deck.

The remaining work includes bridge painting and restoration of ground in the area.

Short-term daily lane and ramp closures will be scheduled, as needed, to set up and remove large equipment required for the project. Work will occur Monday through Saturday, from 7 AM to 5 PM, with occasional overnight work. Traffic will be controlled using portable message signs, arrow boards, signage, and cones.

Clarkson Construction, of Kansas City, Mo., is the contractor for the $6 million project, which is scheduled to be completed in late May.
