WILKINSON COUNTY: Slope repair project scheduled to begin
[Link]
Wilkinson County, Ga. - Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 24 on a slope repair project in the southern part of Wilkinson County. The right-hand lane and shoulder of US Route 441/State Route 29 south has been closed to traffic at this location (32.695574, -83.112093) due to a slope failure that caused the lane and shoulder to collapse.
The contractor, Griffin Grading and Concrete, will build a retaining wall to hold the slope up and prevent future issues.[Link]
While work takes place, all traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes using existing median crossovers. There will be one lane of northbound traffic and one lane of southbound traffic for the duration of the project. Traffic will be shifted for 1.5 miles.
Work is currently expected to be complete by spring of 2025.
